When it comes to taking care of our beloved pets, we want nothing but the best. That's why choosing the right veterinary practice is so important. While there are many options available, independent veterinary practices in the United Kingdom stand out as the best choice for your pet's care. Here's why: 1. Personalised and Compassionate Care: Independent veterinary practices prioritise the well-being of pets over profits. They are not owned by big corporate groups, which means they can focus on providing personalised and compassionate care to each and every pet that walks through their doors. The veterinary surgeons in these practices have a genuine love for animals and are dedicated to building strong relationships with both pets and their owners. 2. Accessibility: Independent veterinary practices are located in various settings, including urban and rural areas, making them easily accessible to pet owners. Whether you live in a bustling city or a quiet countryside, you can hopefully find an independent practice near you. This accessibility ensures that your pet can receive timely and convenient care whenever they need it. 3. Informative Resources: Independent veterinary practices go beyond just providing medical care for your pet. They also offer informative resources for pet owners, such as brochures and educational materials. These resources empower pet owners with knowledge about pet health, nutrition, and general well-being. By educating pet owners, independent practices help them make informed decisions and take proactive steps to keep their pets healthy. 4. Continuity of Care: When you choose an independent veterinary practice, you can expect continuity of care for your pet. This means that your pet will see the same veterinary surgeon for their check-ups, vaccinations, and any ongoing medical needs. This consistency allows the vet to develop a deep understanding of your pet's health history and specific needs, leading to more effective and personalised care. 5. Supporting Local Businesses: By choosing an independent veterinary practice, you are supporting local businesses and the local economy. These practices are usually owned and operated by members of the community, who are passionate about providing the best care for pets. By supporting independent practices, you are helping to keep the spirit of community alive and ensuring that quality veterinary care remains accessible to all. In conclusion, independent veterinary practices in the United Kingdom are the best choice for your pet's care. They offer personalised and compassionate care, are easily accessible, provide informative resources for pet owners, ensure continuity of care, and support local businesses. By choosing an independent practice, you can rest assured that your pet will receive the highest level of care and attention they deserve.

What a great read by David Thomson in Vets View. Having previously worked for an equine vets for 13 years, doing a bit of everything from nursing, admin, ordering etc, I saw the struggles to balance the books but they kept going and had a good relationship with clients. However, one vet was interested in the animals, one more interested in money. The partnership broke up and lo and behold, the money orientated partner has now sold out to a corporate company. And yes. The first question asked is " are you insured". Rcvs should hang their heads in shame by letting the profession get into the state it's in now.
Glad I found this website. Prices differ greatly from corporate vets to independent vets. I like the continuity of independent vets
This website is excellent. Thank you for putting it together.
